Sharing your words with people is a big health benefit for mental
wellbeing. As emotions disturb you when you suppress them, you feel pleasure
and frank at the time you free them. Writing doesn’t differ from speaking. As
long as you write, you better get and feel stability. Sociologists say that a person couldn’t be alone
unless he lives in a community or he is with society. Despite that writing is a
skill and what makes a person peculiar, it is a relief and heals so many
psychological problems. This article articulates the health benefits of
writing.
American social psychologist James W. Pennebaker was the first one
to introduce the mental health benefits of writing. After the introduction of
James, many studies have shown the prominent benefits of writing.
A study by APA pointed out that writing can assist to relieve
stress by combatting negative and intrusive thoughts. The study elaborates that
writing about negative experiences can help you to overcome them and that, by
putting your experience into perspective, you can focus on the positive as a
result. As Bridger Murry says, writing is not new therapy for mental problems.
Many years ago practitioners used writing and journaling to heal people to cure
stress and anxiety.
Writing makes You free from stress: When too many thoughts come
together they result in stress. Conversing and writing may have involved
relieving this. “When you write something down, you can read objectively and
question all the false statements or judgments. With this in mind, through
using the method of journaling, even long-term memories can become less
intrusive”.
